The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to former media chief Indrani Mukerjea, who is accused of killing his daughter Sheena Bora, 25, in 2012. The Central Bureau of Investigation has been at the forefront of inquiries since it took the case to Mumbai police. . According to police, Sheena Bora was abducted and strangled to death in April 2012.

Sanjeev Khanna, the ex-husband of Indrani Mukerjea, and Shyam Rai, the driver of Indrani Mukerjea, have pleaded guilty to one count of felony criminal mischief. May 23, 2012: One month later, police find Sheena Bora’s body found in the Maharashtra district of Raigad.

August 2015: Three years later, Indrani Mukerjea is arrested on charges of murdering his daughter. Indrani Mukerjea’s ex-husband, Sanjeev Khanna, was arrested in Kolkata a day later.

September 2015: Kolkata resident Siddhartha Das – former partner of Indrani Mukerjea – claims to be Sheena Bora’s biological father. The case was then referred to the CBI and the central agency filed a FIR against Indrani Mukerjea, Sanjeev Khanna, and Shyam Rai.

January – February 2017: Case begins. The CBI special court charges Indrani and Peter Mukerjea, and Sanjeev Khanna, for conspiracy, kidnapping, destruction of evidence and for providing false information, in addition to the murder of Sheena Bora.

Sheena Bora was killed in 2012 by Indrani Mukerjea in conspiracy with her then husband Peter and ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna over financial dispute.

Peter has been denying the allegations of having any role in killing of Sheena Bora.

The Mumbai Police, led by then Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, uncovered the murder in 2015, after Indrani’s driver Shyamvar Rai was arrested by the police.

On Wednesday, the High Court sentenced Indrani Mukerjea, a man convicted of more than six years in prison for the murder of Sheena Bora.

A bench headed by Justice L. Nageswara Rao, without commenting on the merits of the case, noted that he had been in prison for 6.5 years and that the trial had not been completed.

“Even if 50% of witnesses are released by prosecutors, the case will not end soon. He has been granted bail. He will be released on bail to the satisfaction of the court, ”said the bench.

The terms of his bail will be the same as that of Peter Mukerjea, who is also a co-defendant and is out on bail from 2020.

The Court noted that 6.5 years’ imprisonment without any possibility of a trial soon came to an end.

The court had previously issued a notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation and Maharashtra on his bail application.
